Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry GCMS Capabilities |
A significant range of GC/MS analytical instruments are available for analysis projects at the Intertek Sunbury Technology Centre in the United Kingdom. |
| GC/ICP/MS:
-
Gas Chromatography-Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry
instrument. Agilent 6890N and 7500ce instruments are combined
into a powerful analytical instrument, offering
lower limits of detection for metal analysis, hydrocarbon
sulphur speciation, hydrocarbon mercury speciation and water
sample analysis. Go to GC/ICP/MS
homepage.
High Resolution GCMS:
High resolution magnetic sector Micromass Zab capable
of performing G/CMS analyses at 10,000
mass resolution.
GCMS Headspace Analyses:
- Perkin Elmer TurboMass Gold quadrupole GC/MS instrument
with a PE TurboMatrix HS40 Trap headspace sampler.
GCMS Chemical Ionisation:
- Trio-1000 quadrupole GC/MS instrument with Chemical
Ionisation (CI) facilities.
Zab GC/MS
- HRGC/HRMS at 10000 mass resolution:
- Accurate mass determinations
- Biomarker analyses
- PAH analyses in heavy fuel oil and residues
- PAH Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons Testing in Fuels
- Dibenzothiophenes in diesel and gas oil by accurate
mass SIM without the need for elaborate separation routines
- Target compound analyses by high mass resolution
SIM
- 12x12 accurate mass matrix analysis based on ASTM
D2425 – no separation into saturates and aromatics
required
- Ad hoc custom analyses
|
HRGC/FI
- Alkane distributions in kerosene, diesel, gas oils
- Highly branched aromatic analysis, little or no
fragmentation
Headspace/HRGC/HRMS
- Accurate mass determinations / identifications of
unknown volatiles in a wide variety of different matrices
Thermal desorption,
HRGC, HRMS
- Analysis of polymer additives without the need for
extraction
- Analysis of volatiles in solid matrices such as
activated carbon and catalysts
Quadrupole GC/MS
- EPA 16 PAH analyses in oils and water
- BS6920 / Reg 25 analyses,
approved by the UK Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) to
perform this analysis
- Chemical ionisation GCMS for analysis of thermally
labile compounds
- Ad hoc analyses for the identification of unknowns
in different matrices, including water, kerosene,
fuel oil, plastics
- Headspace GCMS for the analysis of volatiles, including
BTEX, in matrices such as water, soils and fuel
oils
- Derivatisation and GCMS analysis of polar compounds
(alcohols, acids, amines, etc.)
- Analysis of marine fuel oils for the presence of
contaminants such as chlorinated compounds and natural fatty
acids
- Comparison of oil pollution samples based on ASTM
