Intertek, the world leading third party testing and inspection service, successfully hosted the “Global RoHS Enforcement International Forum” in Shanghai and Taiwan on Nov 16 and 19, 2007. Experts from EU RoHS enforcement authorities and the Ministry of Information Industry of China, and representatives of fortune 500 multinational companies were invited to attend the summits. The conferences aimed to share information and experiences, promote positive work that enforcement authorities are doing in EU and China, and what brand companies are doing to satisfy various environmental regulatory requirements globally. The conferences are part of Intertek’s efforts to provide added value service to the clients, while strengthening the cooperation between Intertek and the RoHS enforcement bodies of different countries.

The conference participants experienced positive and open interactions with panel speakers. They expressed their hopes of Intertek organizing similar high-level forums and conferences in the future, helping them stay current on various environmental regulatory requirements globally. In the Shanghai forum especially, Mr. Huang Jian-zhong, on behalf of the Ministry of Information Industry of China, highly appreciated Intertek’s efforts in promoting China RoHS, and its continual work in bridging the exchange between the directive policymakers and the enforcement bodies.
