Scratch resistance

Testing the quality of your paints / coatings

Scratch resistance tests are performed to test the quality of (adhesion of) a coating or paint on a substrate.

During the test, a coated substrate is scratched with a conical shaped needle with increasing force. The maximum force at which the coating can withstand scratching is recorded.

Intertek can perform scratch resistance tests according to ISO 1518 and automotive specific test methods.
