Refrigeration Oil Screening Tests

Intertek PARC’s Automotive Testing Services laboratory offers measurement capabilities for lubricant performance, refrigeration fluids, engine fuel evaluation and road simulation.  

Intertek PARC tests refrigeration oils using small and medium hermetic refrigeration compressors. The test has computer temperature monitoring and minimal site control. Multiple configurations of power and monitoring are available. The primary usage of the compressor oil evaluation area is the small hermetic compressor wear and capillary tube plugging tests.

Wear Test:

• This test involves accumulation of hours under specific suction and discharge temperatures. Bottom shell temperature is monitored and used as a fan control for maintaining shell temperature. At end of testing the compressor may be disassembled and measured for wrist-pin wear and/or returned to the customer for evaluation.

Capillary Tube Plugging Test:

• This test involves accumulation of hours at high temperature and flow controlled conditions. The pressures are manually controlled and the bottom shell temperature is computer monitored and controlled.

Rapid Cycle Test:

• A version of a rapid cycle (on/off) test is available for the small hermetic compressor.  The rapid cycle test can be run at customer specified conditions.

Medium Hermetic Compressors

These sites are run at customer specified conditions on universal stands. The Sites run at customer specified conditions on universal stands. The compressors are returned to the customer for evaluation.
