Transmission Electron Microscopy Analysis of Biological Samples
Assessment of the morphological properties of tissue samples can be invaluable to preclinical and clinical studies for a wide range of therapeutic treatments and medical device products during product development. Applications include morphological change tracking of biological tissues treated with drugs and diseased tissues.
Typical clients are clinical contract research organisations (CRO), pharmaceutical companies or healthcare service providers (e.g. NHS hospital trusts) and pathology services.
A high quality tissue tranmission electron microscopy (TEM) service including sample preparation and investigation, in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Human Tissue Authority (HTA) licence requirements, is available from Intertek NWTC:
The NWTC microscopy team are experienced in Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) investigations on biological samples such as human and animal tissue and biopsies tgoether with hair, skin etc. X-Ray microanalysis is also possible, providing elemental information.
Sample Preparation
Samples are chemical fixed, processed into resin and cut into ultra thin sections, prior to staining and viewing in the TEM. Ultramicrotomy is available for sectioning 50 nm to 5 μm.
Image Analysis and Output
The output format for each project will be a comprehensive report supported by digital images in electronic format. The report findings will allow your technical clinicians to carry out the necessary data interpretation during which our experts are available for technical project reviews.
Quality Assurance Service
The TEM microscopy is covered under GLP regulations and as such is a unique capability in the field. This service facilitates data deployment in regulatory submissions and supports product research and development.
Regulatory Analysis and Bioanalysis from Intertek
GLP/cGMP advanced analytical services including inorganic bioanalysis and world class GLP bioanalytical LC-MS/MS capabilities and immunochemistry services are available from the global network of Intertek Pharmaceutical Laboratories.
