The solvent Acetonitrile is currently in short supply. It is a by-product of the manufacturing of acrylonitrile used in the production of plastics. Due to the current economic conditions this production has slowed recently resulting in a lower supply of high purity acetonitrile for use in laboratories particularly in HPLC.
At NWTC we can help clients get around this issue in one of two ways:
1. Currently we have good stocks of Acetonitrile and can run your methods on our HLPC equipment (after performing relevant method transfers and validation where necessary). This is a good choice where production is waiting for results from internal laboratories.
2. We can also work with clients to develop alternative HPLC methods where acetonitrile is substituted for more readily available solvents. The developed methods can then be transferred back to clients in-house facility or may be continued to be run at Intertek NWTC. |
