Amino Acids are important biological molecules which are the building blocks of proteins, there are 20 naturally occurring acids. NWTC is capable of analysing samples in order to identify the amino acids present. This is particularly useful for identifying the amino acid profiles of hair to determine the level of damage caused by a particular treatment.
Analysis would typically be carried out using liquid chromatography with pre-column derivatisation followed by fluorescence and/or UV-VIS detection.
All 20 amino acids can be quantified before and after acid hydrolysis and the technique is sensitive to <1nmol/ml in solution.
Protein samples as low as 1mg can be hydrolysed and characterised.
We can also carry out quantification of primary and secondary Amino Acids in Hair, Products and extracts.
