Intertek provides vehicle based testing services to the automotive and petrochemical industries. Automotive vehicles and vehicle components are fully instrumented and "mapped" to determine pressure and thermal response curves, evaluate fatigue problems, perform comparative analysis, and to determine vehicle and vehicle component reliability. Capabilities include competitive benchmarking programs where vehicles and components are evaluated.
Evaporative Emission Testing:
-
Intertek works with clients to develop appropriate evaporative emission-testing protocols. Testing protocol are used extensively to evaluate the evaporative emission tendencies of a wide variety of fuel components including valves, hoses, connectors, fittings, sending units, caps, plugs, tanks, and filler necks. Entire fuel systems can be evaluated for evaporative emissions.
Intertek Automotive Research has the capacity to soak over 1,000 fuel tanks at various temperatures and times. Some tanks have been on soak for over 10 years.
Automotive Research has two different size sealed housings used for evaporative emission determinations (SHED). Fuel systems and fuel tanks are evaluated in our 63 cubic foot mini-SHEDs. Fuel system components are evaluated in our 15 cubic foot micro-SHEDs. Also available is a SHED for fuel system onboard refueling & vapor recovery (ORVR) work.
- Automotive Research performs Small Off Road Engine (SORE), portable fuel container, testing to the ECE R34 protocols, and static evaporative emission testing, Automotive Research performs re-circulative evaporative emission testing by the SAE J1737 test and vehicle tire permeation testing with on-site GC analysis.
