Engine Deposit and Engine Wear Evaluation

The Intertek Engine Deposit and Engine Wear Evaluation Laboratory specializes in visually quantifying engine deposit (Carbon, Sludge & Varnish), engine distress (wear), and other performance characteristics of vehicle and engine hardware, fuels, and lubricants tested at Automotive Research.

Intertek laboratory personnel regularly attend industry sponsored engine deposit and wear evaluation workshops. The workshops provide a mechanism for calibration with other industry personnel within this field, as well as provide for a means for keeping current on new methods or techniques.

The primary areas of engine deposit and wear evaluation specialization are:

  • Gasoline Engine Deposit and Distress Evaluation
  • Engine Lubricant Deposit and Distress Evaluation
  • Diesel Engine Deposit and Distress Evaluation
  • Engine Lubricant Deposit and Distress Evaluation
  • Engine Fuel System Deposit Evaluation
  • Marine or Industrial Two-Stroke-Cycle Engine Deposit Distress Evaluation
  • Hydraulic and Transmission Gears and Bearings Deposit and Distress Evaluation
  • Standardized evaluation methods are available.
  • Personnel can also customize an evaluation method to fit a particular need.
