West Africa Mining and Mineral Services

The Intertek Minerals Division has acquired Transworld Laboratories Ghana Limited (TWL), providing Intertek the technical resources and expertise to provide mineral analytical testing services to mining and exploration companies in West Africa. This testing is carried out in a modern centralised laboratory facility in Tarkwa, Ghana.

The addition of Transworld to the global minerals testing network complements existing global minerals services and capacity. Intertek provides analytical services to the world's mineral, ore and mining industries with facilities in Australia, Indonesia, China, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Zambia, Brazil and North America. Transworld offers sample preparation and analytical testing services for metals including gold and base metals.

John Fowler, Intertek Regional Manager for Minerals Asia, said “This acquisition broadens Intertek’s regional coverage in Africa. The Transworld business complements the Intertek Genalysis facilities in Africa. Our customers will greatly benefit from this additional capability in another strategic location."
