Intertek, a leading international provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of global and local industries, is building a new laboratory at Thane, Maharashtra, with an expected opening date around March 1, 2009.
Rajaram Kalpathi, Country Manager for Oil Chemical Agri and Minerals Divisions said, "We have identified land in Thane which is spread over 8,000 sq ft at Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) premises. With the current manpower strength of 1000, we will be adding 100 people by the end of this year."
The company's core business activity is of testing products, raw materials and accessories. It plays an important role in providing quality assurance to clients and ensuring the safety of end users. Intertek can assist the manufacturer's activity in designing an effective quality assurance programme and training scheme.
The laboratory will offer the same testing services and expertise as the present laboratory, and the new facility will also house oil & gas drilling fluids testing and Bio-diesel testing facilities.
The company also has a separate division for risk analysis and management services for global market leaders. The key importance of this division is to reduce the risk which is associated with a client's products. Beside this, it also gives advisory services, which cover a range of client needs to improve effectiveness of strategy, process or business operations.
