Life Cycle Integrity Management |
Ensuring the Integrity of Oil and Gas assets from First Operation through to Decommissioning. |
Intertek CAPCIS works with oil and gas clients across the world, helping them protect the integrity of key assets through engineering and review processes that are required during each of the stage of the asset lifecycle. |
| |

Typical Stages of a Lifecycle Integrity Management Program.
|
| |
The Life-cycle Stages of a typical project involve Pre-FEED, FEED, Design, Construction, Commissioning, Operations, and Decomissioning:
- Pre-FEED and FEED:
- Pre-FEED and FEED define the project scope and risks in more detail, minimizing overall project costs.
- Pre-FEED is the concept stage of the project. Integrity objectives are determined for the feasibility of a project and cost-effective solutions for delivery. Proposals for integrity control are reviewed.
- During the FEED stage, consideration is given to material procurement, fabrication, legislation, and tax issues. Full life-cycle cost analysis is normally carried out. Integrity related issues include material section, chemical treatment facilities, monitoring & inspection requirements etc.
- Design:
- Design stage involves design and detailed design.
- Materials selection is confirmed using design codes, construction standards and procedures, fabrication and assembly.
- Assessment of proposed corrosion control options.
- Detailed Engineering Design, including detailed specification and drafting procedures to deliver the finalized design specifications.
- Construction & Commissioning:
- Integrity Management Systems are set up to enable ongoing monitoring on integrity.
- Inspection and monitoring ensures that relevant standards are met and components are fit for purpose.
- Documentation that enables a structured framework for integrity management is delivered, covering integrity policy, strategy, codes of practice procedures, specifications and guidelines, all of which are all required for a successful structured framework.
- Operations:
- Implementation of the integrity management strategy involves the correct execution of the mitigation, monitoring and inspection activities that ensure the facility remains fit for purpose.
- Examples of these activities are corrosion rate monitoring, process monitoring and inspection, data collection, analysis, reporting and corrective action.
- Decommissioning:
- Decommissioning covers repair, replacement and abandonment projects, and offers the opportunity to re-use or scrap existing assets.
- A select team manages this activity, offering potential for any lessons learned during the decommissioning process to be fed back into new projects and existing operations.
