Intertek Opens New Jet Fuel Laboratory in Hong Kong

HONG KONG (October 16, 2008)

Intertek, the world's leading provider of quality and safety solutions to a wide range of industries including testing and inspection services, has opened a new jet fuel laboratory at Tsing Yi Terminal, Hong Kong.

The jet fuel testing laboratory supports increasing demand for fuel testing in the region, due to continued growth in the airline and aviation markets in the Asia Pacific region. The Hong Kong lab joins Intertek's international network of jet fuel testing labs located across the world.

The new Intertek jet fuel laboratory supports global and regional customers with services to assure aviation fuel quality complying to 'Aviation Fuel Quality Requirements for Jointly Operated Systems' (AFQRJOS). Jet fuel quality that meets the AFQRJOS is usually referred to as "Jet A-1 to Check List" and is the main global standard used in the industry.

The jet fuel laboratory operates on a 24/7 basis with a new state-of-the-art equipment & laboratory systems and managed by highly qualified chemists. The new laboratory is operating under the guidelines of ISO 17025 accreditation schemes and is expect to be fully accredited by 2009.
