CHN-Analyser

The CHN analyzer can analyze a wide range of sample matrices, sizes and concentrations without compromising accuracy and precision.
A small technical description how the instrument works:
A sample will be burned in a small excess of oxygen at approx. 900°C. Exothermic combustion of the tin capsule ensures that the temperature rises to approx. 1800°C. At this temperature the sample will be converted for approx. 99% into NOx, N2, CO, CO2, H2O, SO2, SO3, salts and metal. The ash rests are remained behind the ashfinger and the gasmixture is conducted along oxidators and catalysts so that all combustion products are converted into NOx, N2, CO2 and H2O. A reduce column ensures that all excess oxygen is caught gone and that all NOx is converted into N2. If the gasmixture of reduce column comes firstly all H2O it is absorbed in an absorption column and afterwards all CO2 in next absorption column. N2 - gas is measured directly using katharometer, hereafter CO2 absorption column is warmed up so that all CO2 comes rather and as a last H2O the column is warmed up so that all H2O can be measured.
The applications can be found in:
  • Chemistry and Pharmacy (fine chemicals, fertilizers, organo-metallic compounds), catalysts)
  • Synthetic materials (Polymers & Plastics)
  • Oil, Coal and Petroleum derivates (Heating fuel Oils, Gasolines, gasoils, crude oil, coals)
  • Agricultural products ( plants, wood, vegetable oils)
  • Environmental analysis (sludge, solid and liquid waste)
Carbon analysis in heating fuels is an important parameter to evaluate if your products fulfill the Kyoto guidelines
