Case Study:
Analytical Method Development and Validation of Specialist Methods
The breath of Intertek ASG technical capabilities and experience in chemical characterization and analysis have been applied to a wide range of products and materials where there are unusual or specialist requirements for analysis. Measurements can all be carried out to the appropriate regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical development and manufacture.
Typical examples have included:
- Electrochemistry – development of electrochemical methods for study of redox properties and quantification of redox active chemical species including:
- CV (cyclic voltammetry)
- polarography
- impedance
- Specialist LC detection methodologies such as:
- electrochemical
- fluorescence
- laser light scattering
- viscosity
- ELSD (evaporative light scattering detection)
- Reactive group / end group analysis using a range of wet chemical and spectroscopic methods
- MALLS (multi-angle laser light scattering) for characterisation of nano and bionano dispersions
- Quantification of small molecules and reagents difficult to analyse by standard chromatographic techniques including:
- formaldehyde
- formic acid
- trialkylamines
- quaternary ammonium salts
- alkyl sulphates
- Chiral purity / optically active isomer distribution measurements by NMR
- Determination and quantification of mineral components and structures by powder XRD, backed up by an extensive database
