Dr. Bernard Fields

Separation Science (Liquid Chromatography)

Bernard obtained his PhD from the University College of Swansea in 1979 and joined ICI in 1980 after a year at Purdue University working on kinetic methods of analysis. Bernard worked initially in inorganic analysis and moved to working on Gas Chromatography in 1984.

Since 1995 he has lead an integrated Separation Science facility incorporating both gas and liquid chromatographies.

In recent years Bernard's research has centred on chromatographic techniques for polymer analysis, fast liquid chromatographic methods, automated methods for HTE applications and odour and flavour analysis. He also has an interest in Quality Systems in analytical functions.
