Often processes do not operate as they should and products show minor or even major variations in properties or behaviour in processing. MSG has a great deal of experience in process investigation, comparison of products, development of on-line/at line methods and support for technical/customer service activities.

We also are able to determine both physical and chemical characteristics of products and help relate these to each other. The efficient operation of plants can often be improved by enhanced control based on better/faster analysis carried out at plant or on line.

Neil Everall's team have helped the former ICI Tioxide business to manufacture better quality titanium dioxide pigment by pioneering the use of on-line Raman spectroscopy. A Raman analyser is used at the end of the TIO2 production line as part of a closed loop process control system, boosting throughput while maintaining product specification.
