As companies take steps towards RoHS compliance, products changes may alter solder composition, PCB strength, corrosion resistance, electronic characteristics, and durability. If not done correctly, these RoHS related changes could result in product reliability and performance issues. Intertek provides offers Accelerated Stress Testing (AST) to quickly and easily determine what effects the RoHS related material changes have on products.

Accelerated Stress Testing includes:

• Failure Mode Verification Testing (FMVT):
  Inherent design weaknesses are revealed by exposing the design / prototype to a combined set of amplified environments and/or stresses. Multiple failure modes, failure sequence and distribution are produced.

• Multiple Environment Over Stress (MEOST):
  Multiple stress levels are applied to a product in a short period of time, simultaneously elevating stresses towards two-thirds of the destruct limit in order to find potential failure modes.

• Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT):
  Testing subjects product to increasing stress levels of temperature and vibration, rapid thermal transitions, and other stresses related to the operation of the product.

• Highly Accelerated Stress Screen (HASS):
  The development of custom production screens to identify process defects in conjunction with test results found from HALT.
